Analyzing images.

On this image we can see a multinational conference or event. The flags on the roof represent the cultural diversity that is present on this conference of students. We can say that is a students coference because the ballons on the bottom of the image that represent youth and vitality. The caption concern about the multi cultural presence on the actual education methods that meet students from every culture and country and expose every principle and belief of its specific culture and origin. This coference looks very interesting because this same principle, everyone attending this meeting can learn about the multi-cultural society that today we live. I think there is a little difference between the image and the universities on my country because the presence of multi cultural instances are not very common.

Finaly, about the customs and traditions topic, we can say that in Chile and in other Latin-American countries the manners fromother countries, specially the most developed are imitated because the tradition and the status that this customs can give toa country specially to those countries in procces of development. This countries that inspire this smallest culture are mainly the European countries and highlighting the english speaking countries.

Dr Jeckyll & Mr Hyde - The damned lyrics

I'm normal outside, he's evil inside
I'm Dr. Jekyll and he's Mr Hyde
I try to be true, he tries to be cruel
I'll hold you gently but he'll smother you
My clothes will impress you
And my claws will undress you
I'm normal outside, he's evil inside
I'm Dr. Jekyll and he's Mr Hyde
I want what's right
He walks in the night
Searching for sin in his
Decadent life
My charms will beguile you
And my arms will defile you
Me, I'm on the side of the angels
But the Devil is my best friend
Sin is a way of life
Saints are for suckers
Welcome to the underworld
I start where nightmares end
Two for the price of one
Two, for the price of one [unverified]
I'm normal outside, he's evil inside
I'm Dr. Jekyll and he's Mr Hyde
I try to be true, he tries to be cruel
I'll hold you gently but he'll smother you
My clothes will impress you
And my claws will undress you

Social skills and Homeschooling myths and realities.

j) The myth that homeschooling inhibits the development of socialization skills was born out of a misconception of what it's like to homeschool. They do not study all day, they learn in and out of their homes, and participate in a lot of activities.

Dr Moore says that is a myth that children need to be around many other youngsters in order to socialize, quite the contrary, they do not respond well to large groups. They are best socialized by parents.

This is supported by Dr.Patricia Lines, she adds that children that go to school are never alone and their after-school lives are packed full of activities, instead of homeschooling kids that have time for their own, to discover what they love to do.

k) That they have problems with developing socialization skills. They break the stereotype using empirically proven facts, and using information that comes from people trained in these areas, like Dr. Moore and Dr. Lines.

Alcoholic Memoirs

1st Part:

A. Sympathy; B. Seasoned; C. Stagger; D. Dipsomaniac; E. Numbly; F. Vision; G. Babble
H. Universe; I. Pathway; J. Clear

2nd part:

(a) Jack London is writing about a kind of drinker with strange characteristics, called John Barleycorn.

(b) The word is excessivist

(c) Like a stupid and unimaginative man, with a numbly walk, who falls frequently, who sees strange things, such as pink elephants, when he is totally drunken.

(d) He is different in the way that the imaginative drinker is drunken, but only his brain, not his body. Then, the imaginative one does not fall, does not bubble and does not stagger.

(e) The only truth for him is death, he only knows he will dead.

(f) It is written in that way to put enphasis in the idea.

(g) That he is mortal, he knows he is going to die.

(h) Bad days, with pessimistics ideas on his mind.

(i) The price for the imaginative drinker is hard to him. He sees a cruel side of life, with a dark sight and a depressed mind. Its ideas are bad when they must be good, for him, life is a cheat. However, it is not all, also he seems to only take in the worst sides of people. Finally and the most important thing, the imaginative drinker pays his price in the way that he knows and realices that he may anticipate the day of his dead.

Rationale for my debate topic.

My debate objective was to develop a point of view about the alternative medicine and if this discipline pose a threat to the public health, my group got the against point of view. I think that this topic is very important because it helps people to know if using any alternative medicine procces is convenient as using traditional medicine methods for cure diseases. The information that we used on our debate preparaton was get mainly from personal experience or testimonies of known people as my classmate Rodrigo Breguel or our sports teacher Jose Luis Aracena.

The concept of beauty

I think that the concept of beauty depends absolutely on the cultural and social point of view, mainly because of the stereotypes that the society imposes on people. Despite the beauty agreements among the different societies, I completely agree with the quote that sais "The beauty is in the eye of the beholder" because i really think that the beauty perception depends absolutely of the perspective and the point of view of who present their opinion. This concept is called subjectivity that give to the subject the posibility to state his own opinions but sometimes the subjectivity is affected and displaced by the socially imposed opinions shown for example in the massive comunication media. Now on days, their exist a lot of discrimination of the people that is considered ugly by the social beauty concept.

People just considered the physical aspects to define someone as beautifull or ugly, I think that is not a precise method for classify people because it creates a baseless discrimination among different people with different opinions or points of view.

Jack interview.

Today we have on air one of the children of the group that survived for a long time in a desert island, his name is Jack and we will ask him some questions about his experience as one of the survivors of this procces.

So first of all Jack, what was the first problem you saw on the island at the beginning of this survival process?  In my case, I think that the main problem at the beginning of this experience was to persuade the “littluns” to work and stop playing on the beaches or trees. I remember that when I was a little boy as this littluns, I also liked to climb trees or play in the water, but on this case the situation was very different and any problem on this innocent activity probably may cause an accident or even several injuries in some of this little boys.

How did the boys organize the main survival activities?  We divided the essential requirements for survive like a group, the choir boys for example was responsible of haunting animals for eating and other groups of boys was responsible to collect pure water for drink. I think is a brilliant idea for just a group of children.

Do you think that the distribution of the essential tasks was the best method to develop the survival process? I dont think so, the activity distribution system was very inefficient in my  understanding, mainly because Ralph was a bad leader.

Why do you think that Ralph was a bad leader?  Because he was very bossy, maybe with good intentions but for me and my friends, the authority of Ralph was very annoying.

What did you learn about this experience?
I think the most important lesson that I learned through this experience is to not discriminate people just by his physical aspects, Piggy was a really nice person and I’m really sorry if someday I bother or discriminate him, now on days I’m sure that Piggy is one of the best person I ever meet.

Do you considerate Ralph as your enemy? I think that Ralph, like me and the rest of the children group was just a victim of the international conflicts. Maybe on the moment I consider Ralph as my enemy but I think that is moment of apologize and just say Sorry.

Finally, what do you think is the most important event in your experience in the island?  Clearly, the day that we were rescued by the navy. Is a day that i will never forget because i remember that i realized that the violence was at a critical level, in fact, i was very sad for my personal conduct.

I think this interview is really important, someday this program and this testimony will be a real piece of British history and Jack, a National Hero. Thank you Jack for coming to our program.

Blog entry 2

Task 1: The advertising is everywhere you look, this is a undeniable fact. The mass society in wich we live mixed with the capitalism echonomical devices, allowed a real advertising and consumption expansion arround the world. Actually, this expansion calls the globalization.

task 2: The advertising informative text.

"How the advertisement affects the people"?

Advertising means the communicative process of material that send a persuasive message to a determinated receiver, sometimes it works but also can be an inneficient message. For this reason, their exist a lot of edvertising rules or laws.

In our days, we see advertisements in every place we visit, or even in places that we did not want to see it likeexample in parks, sport fields or even in our houses. All this information that i gave you before, means just one thing, we are leaving a constant and important change in our lifestyle, but we cant know how this process ends, maybe in a couple of years later, whole forrests are felled for create more massive advertising, or even the responsable advertisin agencies will be most aware about the side effects of the massive comunication abuse. However, that we will not know until some time so while, is better to be careful.

Is important to know that the modern advertising born between 1880 and 1890 in the United states, after that event, the echonomical and comercial activity presented various positive changes, and also, it contribuited to the development of the occidental echonomical globalization procces that today allows to see mcdonalds, Coca cola, and other products in every place arround the world.

Finally, the advertising is a very important echonomical instrument , is one of the main character of the global society that we have today and is also de responsible of a great part of the modern occidental culture.

Entry number 1

"The very first law in advertising is to avoid the concrete promise and cultivate the delightfully vague"  Bill Cosby

I think that the quote is mainly reefered to the popular cossume rule that says "give to the customer what they want". An advertising publication allways have to be openned to the consumer opinion, If the persuation method of a company is opened to the opinion of the people, sales will be widely better.

Im agree with this main idea of advertising because i think that is very important to mantain the original subjectivity of every topic even if the objective of our comunicate is to persuade the receiver of our message to buy our product or use our service. This is very important because if our persuation method is based on the receiver point of view, it is always most nice and atractive to the people, but if our persuation is based on the authority and just says "Buy our product because is better", customers dont fill any proximity or closeness with our brand.

For example, if we see the advertising of the biggest organizations in the world, we dont see an empty persuation technique, this huge corporations use a lot of methods and modes of persuation, but allways with a lot of subjective content to be opened to the cossumer opinions. This is the case of Coca Cola that says "Live on the COKE side of the life"
